This beautiful boy is ready for his Adoptive home.
This spunky handsome fella has really done well as the only dog in his foster home where he has had loads of walks and play time. A fenced yard is essential. Astro is a smart, curious, quick learner and is motivated by both praise and food. He has done very well playing in dog parks and on walks when meeting dogs of any size and is respectful of pack order. He thrives and is happiest when he can run the hills and explore. Aside from running and hiking his most favorite activity is tug of war with his human(s) but also loves the game of chase. And be prepared for some zoomies 🙂 He can be protective of his Kong (especially if there is peanut butter in it) but will happily give it up for a treat when he is done. Astro is also very athletic and active when in play mode, but can settle nicely after some good daily exercise. Astro knows many commands and has good recall unless distracted by critters or when his nose has gotten the best of him:)
He is doing pretty well with leash training and is a well-mannered boy while out on walks although can pull when he meets a potential friend or if a squirrel is in the area. He will also jump at a treat bag if given the opportunity. Still working on it but he’s trying. Astro is fully house trained and will sleep on his own bed or on the couch and will sometimes sneak into bed with you for his morning rubs. For the most part he likes to be left alone when sleeping and doesn’t like feeling cornered …not unlike many dogs. When you give Astro time to get to know you, gain each other’s trust and time to adapt to his new home you’ll have the best buddy ever. Astro would do best in an Active Adult Family with a strong leader that has dog experience??
